Limited Class Displays
- Show an aspect of what the department does
- Cannot include class work or project judged for another competition
- Interactive and relate to the public
Freshman/Sophomore Displays
- How underclassmen are involved in department
- First 2 years within department curriculum
- Have not passed CIS 501 yet
- Less technical than other displays
- Show how younger students relate to field
Open Class Displays
- Class or individual project
- Can have been entered elsewhere
- Includes written portion
- Senior project classes (CIS 59x)
Graduate Student Displays
- Highlight research by graduate students
- Engaging to the general public
- Highlight real-world applications of research
Technical Displays
- Any Open Class or Limited Class display
- Requires a 2 page abstract
- Rough draft due Feb 27th
- Problem-and-solution format
Judging Displays
- Top 3 displays in each category will be recognized by CIS
- Department will choose 1 display for special recognition
- 1st place CIS displays will be judged for College of Engineering Awards
- Winners recognized at Engineering Awards Banquet April ??
CIS Judging
- CIS Faculty will judge each category
- 1st place display will win PRIZES
- Total Prize Pool: $4000 (plus possible sponsored prizes)
- Winners recognized at CIS award ceremony
CIS Eligibility
- Must be currently declared CIS major
- Must register to present at UG/Grad research forum

BNSF Challenge
- Scavenger hunt for young kids
